The Week That Was #408

1. Unveiling A Mental Health Strategy with Mind Cymru

We joined forces with Mind Cymru to unveil the next Mental Health Strategy for Wales. Following a consultation that four hundred people took part in, the mental health charity wanted us to showcase the key findings in an energetic animated film. The new strategy includes concerns around waiting times, funding and equal access to mental health support for all. You can now find the film across socials on Mind Cymru’s Twitter and Instagram pages.

2. Dogfluencers descend on Carmarthenshire

Dogfluencers: the next big travel trend of 2024, and we’re all aboard the bandwagon. To promote off-season travel for our client Discover Carmarthenshire, we combined two of biggest trends forecast for 2024: dog friendly, slow travel. Ruby the chocolate cockapoo was our dogfluencer of choice, who travelled to the Carmarthenshire countryside with pawrents Gabriela and Matthew, highlighting the best ways to spend a cosy staycation in the Carmarthenshire countryside to her 23k Instagram followers.

3. The Investment Fund for Wales gathers momentum

Scaffolding firm scales new heights: this week we announced the second deal to be delivered as part of the newly launched £130m British Business Bank Investment Fund for Wales – a £500,000 investment into the UK’s oldest scaffolding contractor, Deeside-based Palmers Scaffolding. The deal is the second to be announced by the Bank since the Fund’s launch in November, and the first as part of the Fund’s debt finance element, managed by appointed fund managers FW Capital. Coverage has been rolling in throughout the week in Business Live, Business News Wales, Wales Business Insider, Deeside.com, Scaffmag and more.

4. What the world thinks of Wales?

That’s what our MD Dan Tyte spoke about on a panel at the Investment Forum Wales event at the Parkgate Hotel this week. The event was hosted by Wales Business Insider magazine and saw Dan share his stories about Wales’ place in the world – from meetings on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles to Croatian taxi drivers obsessed with Hal Robson-Kanu- with a room of 100+ business people with a vested interest in investing in Wales. Look out for a write up on the discussion in the next Business Insider mag.

5. Meeting Cardiff’s future PR professionals

Cardiff University’s journalism school is on our doorstep and home to one of the country’s best PR courses. That’s why it made sense for two of our team (alumni of the course themselves) to take up residence at a student employability event to speak to prospective graduates on all things PR and comms at Working Word. Engaging with over 100 students, the event gave us the chance to share some of our latest campaigns and upcoming projects with enthusiastic future PR professionals and chat to them about future work placement opportunities with us.
