1. Manikins make moves overseas
North Wales company Ruth Lee is a world-leading supplier of medical manikins and training aids utilised by rescue training experts across the world. The manikins, originally designed for the NHS, were revamped during the pandemic to deal with remote training practices and have since taken off globally. With support from the Welsh Government, Ruth Lee has capitalised on opportunities to strengthen its exports, attending market visits in Australia and India. International sales now account for over 70% of the company’s turnover, and it has set its sights on further growth in the US where medical contact is of a particularly litigious nature and there is an emphasis on extensive training. We secured extensive coverage for their story as part of our Export Exemplar campaign across Welsh business and national trade titles, including Med-Tech Innovation, Wales Business Insider and The Manufacturer.
2. Big Ideas Wales young entrepreneur is top of the mops
Meet Leon Spencer. The Ebbw Vale man has high-functioning autism, which made maintaining a traditional job challenging, leading him to develop social anxiety. Feeling unheard in the workplace, he wanted to set up a business that supported people with his needs. Cue the launch of LTS Cleaning Services Ltd which offers placements to individuals with mental health issues. 3. A Tailor-Made Adventure in Carmarthenshire
Nestled between tourism giants Pembrokeshire and Gower Peninsula, Carmarthenshire can often go unnoticed as a worthy staycation spot which is why we’ve been working with Discover Carmarthenshire to turn this around. We created a bespoke itinerary for Jessie, Seb and Oakley the Cavapoo @tailormadeadventures to go on a summer adventure and put the West Walian county on more bucket lists. Castles, beaches, and dog-friendly activities galore were shared across the trio’s Instagram profile, reaching over 10,000 new adventurers.
4. Combatting workplace conflict with The CIPD in Wales
Although uncomfortable, workplace conflict can help strengthen relationships between employees and employers and encourage collective growth. The CIPD Good Work index which provides an annual benchmark of good work across the UK has revealed that 23% of employees in Wales have experienced workplace conflict in the past year and over half (56%) chose not to report these incidents. As a result of these findings from 500 Welsh workers, the CIPD is urging Welsh employers to focus on training senior employees, ensuring that they have the skills needed to navigate workplace conflict, target conflict early on, and offer support to employees. 5. Moondance announce Keith James Grants
