1. Exploring a material world with Coleg y Cymoedd
It’s been all about the multiverse and daemons this week as our client, Coleg y Cymoedd, launched its highly anticipated His Dark Materials exhibition and masterclasses. In collaboration with Screen Alliance Wales, Bad Wolf, and the creature effects team behind the hit BBC show, the exclusive event aimed to give the public an insight into how the creatures from the programme were brought to life and encourage more young people into Wales’s booming film industry. 2. CIPD Awards back with a bang
Last Friday the CIPD Wales Awards 2023 celebrated the best and brightest of the HR world with the first gala event since 2019. Hosted by Good Morning Britain and BBC Cymru Wales presenter, Sean Fletcher, this year’s awards saw finalists from across Wales receive top accolades for their hard work within the sector and local communities. Winners included: Tiny Rebel Brewery, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent, Coleg Gwent, and Healthy HR Consultancy Ltd, to name a few. 3. A flocking successful international Women's Day alongside Big Idea's Wales
Here at Working Word we’re constantly surrounded by successful female entrepreneurs and love sharing their empowering stories. But International Women’s Day felt particularly special, as the inspiring story of our latest Big Ideas Wales entrepreneur, Ellen Firth, spring up in titles across Wales.Ellen is a 19-year-old farmer-turned-florist who, despite being diagnosed with autism at 13, has turned her therapeutic floral hobby into success. We met Ellen at her farm in Denbighshire, where she juggled nursing lambs and flowers with organising a vibrant photoshoot. Here, Ellen discussed what it’s like to be an autistic entrepreneur building a successful business and announced the opening of her own flower farm, where she hopes open-air workshops can educate visitors on the therapeutic benefits of floristry and importance of buying local flowers. 4. Equity an essential factor for success says Itec
In the lead up to International Women’s Day we spoke with Ceri Murphy, managing director for our client Itec, to get her thoughts on equity within the education and skills sector and wider working world. 5. Supporting Welsh business to export
On Thursday, the Welsh Government hosted its annual Explore Export Wales conference at Cardiff City Stadium – an event full of seminars, talks, exhibition stands and workshops designed to help more Welsh businesses grow their exports. In the run up to the event, we worked with Media Wales to create a dedicated four-page export supplement in the Western Mail, which included a feature penned by Minister for Economy, Vaughan Gething, which ran on Wales Online and Business Live. We were also on hand at the conference on the day, sharing live content across Business Wales’ social channels.
