The Week That Was #428

1. A wheelie exciting time to be a mountain biker in Wales

The pun may be terrible… but the coverage certainly isn’t. We’ve been working with our client, Discover Carmarthenshire, to showcase more than just beaches and castles to travellers this summer, with the brand new mountain biking uplift centre, Hafod Trails. Working alongside the family run business and the team at Discover Carmarthenshire, we organised an exclusive trip for the UK’s biggest mountain biking title, Mountain Biking UK, to come and test the trails and showcase Carmarthenshire as a go-to destination for the sport. Six pages full of glowing reviews for Hafod and the county itself can be found in the July 2024 issue, on sale now, with a digital issue and social coverage to come.

2. Turner Twins tell travel tales to Daily Mail

Do you think taking an eight-month trip from London to Shanghai in a two seat all-electric convertible sounds like an epic adventure? The Daily Mail certainly does. This week, we arranged for the Turner’s to share their experiences of crossing continents with MG Cyberster to celebrate 100 years of MG. What is it like to drive across Europe, experience the Middle East, tour Southeast Asia, and park up at the Great Wall of China? Check out the MailOnline and find out.

3. New acts announced for LLais Festival

We’ve been working with the Wales Millennium Centre to unveil the second wave of the Llais Festival lineup, which takes place in October. The festival will feature exceptional performances from a diverse range of artists, including Squid and Geordie Greep (of black midi), Joan As Police Woman and Sweet Honey In The Rock. Llais is a highlight of the Cardiff Music City Festival, running from 27 September – 20 October. This city-wide celebration brings three weeks of innovative gigs, immersive experiences, installations, and pop-ups to every corner of the city. To announce the second wave of acts, we launched ads across Meta, X and Google. We also shared the news on Llais’ social channels and collaborated with Welsh of the West End star Steffan Hughes, who shared the announcement with his 34,000 followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You can buy your tickets here.

4. A big week for the British Business Bank

After a media pause during the pre-election period, it’s been a busy old week with the British Business Bank. We got back to the media grind straight away post-election issuing a number of press releases and attending the Wales Business Insider Funding for Growth Forum on Tuesday, which was sponsored by the Bank’s £130m Investment Fund for Wales. And on Thursday the Bank published its 10th annual Small Business Equity Tracker, which reported how Wales is bucking a national trend for falling equity deal values with a 23% increase in the total value of announced equity deals in 2023, with all other nations and regions in the UK experiencing a decline. We shared the positive economic story with Welsh media, so far achieving coverage in titles including Wales Business Insider, Wales247 and Business News Wales.

5. Machinery maker making manoeuvres in US market

From a small-scale packaging firm to a company that designs and builds packaging systems across the globe, Newtown based RM Group has seen its exports skyrocket in recent years. Thanks to support from the Welsh Government, the firm recently secured a string of impressive multi-million dollar deals in the US after opening its first international base in Delaware in 2022. We shared their success story with Welsh business and trade titles including The Manufacturer, Herald Wales, Business News Wales, The Powys County Times and many more.
