1. Going for GONG as BAFTA Cymru announce 2024 nominations
It’s lights, camera, action for us as the official PR agency for this year’s BAFTA Cymru 2024 Awards, which celebrate the best talent across film and television in Wales. The awards shine a light on the Welsh film and TV industry from actors and writers to directors, photographers and costume designers. This week, we helped announced the official nominations for the 2024 awards, with BBC viagra drama Men Up leading with six nominations, followed by Pren Ar Y Bryn with five. And there’s a Hollywood sparkle to the nominations with Welcome to Wrexham featuring in the Factual Series category. We shared the news with media leading to coverage on BBC, Yahoo! News, Radio Times, Wales Online, Nation.Cymru, Heno, BBC Radio Wales, Capital FM, the Western Mail and many more.

3. All aboard the PestSmart Express
School’s back and the days are getting shorter- summer may be almost over but that doesn’t mean that your garden is safe from pests. We’ve been working with PestSmart Ambassador Naomi Saunders to share her favourite DIY methods of natural pest control. Naomi’s three ingredient garlic spray is a great defence against slugs and aphids and more importantly is pet-friendly and won’t harm the environment or wildlife like traditional pesticides. Check out Naomi’s feature on this garlic spray in the Daily Express and visit the PestSmart website for more recipes.
4. Lights, Camera, Accessibility!
The Paralympics in Paris is demonstrating the limitless nature of the human spirit. Media Cymru and consortium partners University of South Wales (USW) aim to do just that with the first ever ‘Accessible Futures Summit’ on September 10th – an event which will showcase brand new approaches to working with D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent talent behind the screen. The day will see a range of industry leaders, including disabled creatives, who will share their own knowledge and experience, with the objective all who attend leave more disability confident, with a better understanding of how to hire, include, train and support D/deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent (DDN) talent, and able to identify resources and funding to ensure more accessible productions. Read more about this event in British Cinematographer, TVB Europe, and Media Cymru’s website.
5. Goal Coast
With the football season in full swing and summer very much still singing we were lucky enough to head up to the North Welsh coast with our friends at the Cymru Football Foundation. Thanks to their funding, Llanfairfechan Town FC were able to renew and reinvigorate their facilities, all-weather practice facilities meaning that local residents can stay in their community to play football. The new facilities has also meant the return of the club’s women’s team. Winner. We were there to capture a day of celebration and spread the word so that other grassroots football clubs up and down Wales can all make the most of the many funding opportunities that the foundation offers, from pitches to solar panels and tracksuits to tractors. Check out the film on Cymru Football Foundation’s channels.
